The first weekend of Regionals is complete and I hope you had a chance to catch some of the events. I enjoy watching Regionals because the competition is fierce and there are no guarantees that a well recognized athlete will be returning to the CrossFit Games. There is always a chance that a dark horse will come out of nowhere and surprise everyone. While we are following the Instagram pages of Brooke Ence and Garret Fisher, there are the Jamie Higiya and Henry Lopez’s of the world (both were at the CA Regional last year. What, you don’t remember them?) quietly working on their weaknesses and ready to make a statement.

So what does any of this mean for you, the athlete that has no competitive aspirations? It means that there is always room for improvement, whether that be in your CrossFit endeavors or anything else you do in life. All too often people give themselves permission to not be better at something. They find a reason why it’s okay to just get by with what they are doing. I get it, but at the same time, you can’t complain that you are unhappy with where you are in life. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the people who make the most progress in the gym are the ones who stick around after class or come to Open Gym on Sundays for goat work. If it’s important to you, you will make time! So stop reading this blog post and go make time for chasing after a goal!
